A Message from Fr. Jay

Dear Friends,

This bulletin carries messages for both the 4th Week of Advent, as well as, Christmas Day. Every 7 years we get this cycle of celebrating Christmas the very next day after the 4th Sunday of Advent! This means that the Fourth Sunday of Advent is also Christmas Eve!

Recently I was listening to a beautiful song, “Let it be”, by Paul McCartney (of Beatles fame). This song was inspired by a dream about his own mother named Mary. But the lyrics fit perfectly with today’s Gospel. In the beginning of the song, the lyrics are:

“When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me;
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me;
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.”

The greetings from the Angel of the Lord promises Mother Mary that her Son who is to be born would rule the house of Jacob forever. A kingdom which is born out of the favor of the Lord, having no fear, ruling without end, explains the true meaning of peace! That became possible with the words of wisdom of Mother Mary as “Let it be done to me according to your word”. God wants to house Himself, as per the first reading, in a physical building of bricks and walls (of the temple) and in the Gospel in human flesh. He yearns for love with humanity. With the “Yes” of Mother Mary, Jesus is born!

Abundant Blessings!
