Saint John XXIII Parish Choir (expanded – Choral ensemble)
The Parish Choir is composed of adult women and men. This choir will lead the congregation at the 9:15a.m or 11:15 a.m. Sunday or 4:00 p.m. Vigil Mass as scheduled. These talented singers specialize in mixed-part musical repertoire while fulfilling its mission to encourage the active participation of the singing assembly. The choir will participate in several concerts each year accompanied with orchestra. This choir will perform major choral works each year. Membership is open to all who desire to sing. No audition is required. Rehearsals are held Thursday evenings from 6:30 -7:45 p.m. year round in the music area.
The St. John XXIII Adult Ringers (NEW)
The Adult handbell ensemble is comprised of Parish Choir Singers. This ensemble rings 3 octaves of Schulmerich Handbells and Malmark Choir Chimes. They follow the same schedule as the St. John XXIII Parish Choir. This is a music educational tool to improve their musical reading skills, development of handbell technique and musicality. Rehearsals are held Thursdays 6 p.m.– 6:30 p.m.
Angelus Ringers (NEW)
This is a new beginning handbell ensemble of non-singing ringers. This ensemble rings 3 octaves of Schulmerich Handbells and Malmark Choir Chimes while developing their music reading skills and handbell technique. Rehearsals TBD. Ringers will play as scheduled, Saturday 4 p.m., Sunday 9:15 a.m. or 11:15 a.m.
Schola Cantorum (Experienced Choral ensemble – New)
This small mixed ensemble is comprised of St John XXIII cantors & experienced St John XXIII Choir members who will sing a variety of advanced choral repertoire. Rehearsals are Thursdays 7:50– 8:15 p.m. in the music area.
Arimathean Singers (NEW)
The Arimathean Singers supports congregational singing for funerals and memorial Masses. All who are 18 years and older and available to sing are encouraged and welcomed. Membership in other singing choirs is optional. There is a short rehearsal one-half hour before the scheduled funeral. (Example: 9:30 a.m. rehearsal, Funeral 10 a.m.)
Cherub Choir/Chimers (K-2) (NEW)
The Cherub choir offers singing, ringing, weekly fundamental activities, and rhythm instruments for children in grade K–2. The children will sing as scheduled at the 9:15 am or 11:15 a.m. Mass, and for concerts and music festivals. Rehearsals will be held Wednesday afternoons 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. during Religious Ed.
