A Message from Fr. Jay
Dear Friends,
I am glad to be back after a 45 day gap since my vacation to India (that includes jetlag as well). We gratefully acknowledge the gifts of Fr. Greg and Deacon Jacob sent to us by Bishop Dewane. Both are newly ordained, one for Priesthood and the other for Diaconate.
In the gospel this weekend, we find Jesus after a long day with a busy schedule, he gets into a boat and sleeps like a baby. I always admire sleeping babies. No matter what goes on around them, they sleep deep. Sometimes they smile during their sleep, which my mom would say, “the angels are tickling the babies”. Jesus had a cushion, which was perhaps the hands of the Father, and He was not disturbed by the raging waves but instead disturbed by the cry of his disciples! Unfaithfulness of the disciples and accusing Jesus that you do nothing while we are perishing!
God is the Master of the universe and all within it as we read in the first reading. We may have raging waves with roaring threats in our personal lives, but they could never throw us out but, rather bring us closer to Jesus. Our God is not a God of death but life. Let us increase our faith in Him and continue our journey with Him.
Next weekend, June 29-30, we will have a farewell reception in the Parish Life Center for Fr. Michael Young. We would appreciate if you could take the time to wish him well after all the Masses.
God Bless,
Fr. Jay Raju
