St. John XXIII music ministry offers children, youth and adults diverse opportunities to lend their talents and love of the Lord to serve Him and our parish.

John Renfroe

John graduated from Stetson University with a degree in organ performance as a Church Music Major with a Minor in Voice. He studied organ with Paul Jenkins and conducting with Dr. Robert Rich. In 2000, as a part of the touring choir from St Columbkille Catholic Church, John was invited to be a guest organist at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. He has given organ concerts and lectures throughout Florida. He served previously as the Director of Music and Organist at Messiah Lutheran Church in Cape Coral for nineteen years. While at Messiah he directed the Chancel Choir and a variety of vocal ensembles.

Saint John XXIII Parish Choir

The Parish Choir is composed of adult women and men. This choir will normally lead the congregation at the Sunday 11:15AM Mass as well as at special feasts and events throughout the year. Singers present mixed-part musical repertoire while inspiring and encouraging active participation of the congregation. Membership is open to all who desire to sing. No audition is required. Choir participates at mass year round and weekly rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 6:15-7:30PM (Sept. -June).

Saint John XXIII Children’s Choir

The choir is composed of musically inclined children age 6 – 17. Children sing monthly at the first Sunday 11:15AM mass as well as at other masses, feasts and events. Repertoire will be age-appropriate, joyful and uplifting to all. Participation in the choir gives children an opportunity to take a leadership role in the service and ministry of the church while praising the Lord in song. Rehearsals are held twice a month on Wednesday afternoons from 5:30PM – 6:00PM in the Parish Life Center as well as twice a month on Sundays from 10:30-11AM in the Chapel.

The Saint John XXIII Handbells

The Handbell ensemble is comprised of Parish Choir Singers and Handbell enthusiasts who accompany special feasts and masses during the year. This ensemble rings 3 octaves of Schulmerich Handbells and Malmark Choir Chimes. No experience necessary, training is provided.

Arimathean Singers

The Arimathean Singers support congregational singing for funerals and memorial Masses. Please reach out to Chris Brodsky (cbrodsky@brodskyagency.com) to be placed on the distribution list and arrive in church twenty minutes prior to the mass (normally at 10am on a weekday).

Saint John XXIII Modern Ensemble (coming soon)

This vocal/instrumental group will present a variety of upbeat and diverse repertoire including Faith and Worship, Taize, and traditional hymns. We are seeking talented teenager and adult singers/instrumentalists (guitar, keyboard, woodwinds, brass, drums) to provide a joyful and spiritually uplifting atmosphere at a monthly Sunday afternoon mass and special events.

Instrumentalists: The music ministry is looking for those who play instruments to enhance the organ/piano in leading music for our liturgies. Music includes preludes, anthems, hymns and much more.

Cantors: St. John XXIII has several professional cantors that lead the congregation. New volunteer singers with cantoring experience are invited to audition. All cantors must sing within the Parish Choir.

Vietnamese Choir

The Vietnamese Choir rehearses Friday evenings at 8:00 p.m.in the music area. The Vietnamese Mass is Saturday at 8PM. Please contact Dai Tran for more information.

Hispanic Choir

The Hispanic Choir rehearses on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 11:00 am in the flex rooms at the PLC. Please contact Luis Sandoval for more information. The Spanish Masses are Sundays at 1:30 p.m.
