A Message from Fr. Jay
Dear Friends,
I recall a sweet memory of my little friend named Justin, almost three years old, son of a Spanish speaking family at St. Andrew’s Church in Cape Coral. He always spoke to his mom and family in Spanish, but when he tried to converse with me, he tried ‘his English’ which was in fact, gibberish. But neither of us had any issue in understanding each other. Love is the only unique language that does not need words!
On this Pentecost Sunday, we find people who spoke different languages were all unified as one Church under the Holy Spirit. For the first time, the ‘One Church’ was born on the day of Pentecost, all able to understand the Word of God, the same way.
The Word of God, the Truth is always better understood when proclaimed with the universal language of ‘love’. The Holy Spirit cares for the unity of humanity. In the context of the current world, diversities of languages, races, colors, nationalities, have a deep need or demand for the work of the Holy Spirit. Such need or demand could only be fulfilled with love. Love is the language of the Holy Spirit and unity is the platform for sharing the language of love.
In the gospel, Jesus is asking for our love, and in return, He promises the ‘Advocate’ as His gift. Our human love for Him and His gift of the Holy Spirit together makes us His Advocates, called Disciples.
For the last few months, you have been positively considering His calling (to be a disciple) after listening to the short pulpit talks before Masses by the different ministries. Thank you so much. Please continue to reflect on finding your charism and what Jesus is calling you to be.
Starting in July, the Praise and Worship Ministry will promote more youth and young adults to participate, sing and serve the Holy Mass. This will take place at least once a month on a regular basis. We will share more details in the coming weeks.
God Bless,
Fr. Jay Raju
