A Message from Fr. Jay

Dear Friends,

This weekend, our brothers and sisters of the Vietnamese Community celebrate their 15th Anniversary of Vietnamese Ministry with a holy Mass presided by Bishop Dewane. We are proud of the spiritual growth and development of the Vietnamese community at our parish. Your solidarity and encouragement have been a great support to them in building their community as effective partners of the spiritual family of St. John XXIII. Let us continue to encourage them in every way possible. When you see Fr. Joseph, convey your best wishes and prayers.

Also, this weekend, Ms. Mary Stevenson, the Executive Director of COAR Peace Mission from Ohio, will speak at all Masses about their mission. Mary coordinates the mission program that helps a children’s village in Zaragoza, El Salvador, which supports a school and orphanage there. Please be generous to their mission as she requests our spiritual and financial support. You can write your checks as “Mission Cooperative Plan, Diocese of Venice”. Please know that we may promote such missions every other year as a gesture of our mission duty to the universal church.

Also, I request you to pray for our country as the Presidential Election takes place on November 5th. Elections may come and go regularly in our lives, but God wants us to promote understanding and peace always. Let the presence of our Lord continuously remind us that we are called to love everyone! Yes, all the readings of this weekend bring us the message of LOVE.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. A loving God does not allow us hate anyone!

When you get a chance, please watch the classic movie “Fiddler on the Roof” or at least the part on “Golde….do you love me?”. (You might be able to find in the youtube.com) The love between a husband and wife is beautifully explained. “….it doesn’t change a thing, but even so, after 25 years, it’s nice to know that you love me”. Very powerful words/song.

It’s always nice to know that we are loved! We are love beings.

God Bless,
Fr. Jay Raju
