A Message from Fr. Jay

Dear Friends,

In continuing with Easter joy, this weekend, we have the additional joy of celebrating Mother’s Day. Mother Mary, with the help of the Holy Spirit, gave birth to Jesus, the Redeemer. All mothers are the vessels of the Holy Spirit. Mothers play the specific role of making life continue as per God’s plan. This weekend’s readings highlight the role of the Holy Spirit in continuing Life.

As per the first reading, the Holy Spirit brings unity among those who embraced Jesus as the first Christians (among righteous Jews and outcast Samaritans). The second reading explains how the Holy Spirit calls for gentleness and reverence in witnessing Jesus. In the gospel, Jesus promises the Holy Spirit, the Advocate to be with us always.

Let us learn to listen not only to the conscience but to the Holy Spirit as well. The Holy Spirit has the nature of leading us into the Truth, we just need to allow it into our hearts.

Let us remember all mothers, including mother figures and mothers in adoption, that we keep them all in our prayers and honor them with our love and respect. Happy Mother’s Day!

God Bless,
Fr. Jay Raju
