A Message from Fr. Jay
Dear Friends,
“Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give to you”.
Peace is an ideal, and yet a reality strived by individuals, families, communities, nations, media or social media, treaded upon justice amidst the world of conflicts. Most often, peace in the eyes of the world is viewed as the result of justice alone, but the promise of peace by Jesus takes further consideration, experience and cherished unconditional love.
“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
I read a story about a 10-year-old girl traveling on a flight with other passengers. In the middle of the flight, there was a big jolt felt by everyone and all started to panic except the girl. She was calm and continued reading her comic book. The person next to her asked if she was scared. She replied, ‘Nope! I don’t have to panic because my dad is the pilot’.
In the gospel, Jesus says ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid’. Jesus, who promised us an advocate, is already with us in the Holy Eucharist! As we have been called to become the missionaries of the Holy Eucharist, let us take on the promise of realizing and promoting peace into our lives.
This week we have two of our ministries informing us how they promote faith and peace among us: Faith formation for the children and Faith Formation for Adults. If you are inspired to join the team as a disciple, please do.
On Monday, May 26, we mourn and honor all deceased service men and women who died while serving our country. Join us in the Memorial Garden after the 8am Mass for a prayer service. Remember, just as Jesus sacrificed himself for our salvation, “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” – John 15:13
God Bless,
