A Message from Fr. Jay
Dear Friends,
We welcome our new Shepherd Bishop Emilio Biosca Agüero!
We pledge our prayers, support, and love to our bishop as he leads us to green pastures. His mission is challenging, with many different terrains before him, yet he courageously accepts the call to lead us in faith. It is an honor that he chose our parish for his episcopal ordination. I sincerely thank everyone who helped make this celebration so beautiful.
We also pray in gratitude to our Bishop Emeritus Frank J. Dewane that he has a peaceful, healthy and fulfilling retired life.
The Sower’s purpose is to make the land flourish with seeds that produce a good harvest, though the outcome depends on the type and condition of the soil. The Word is God’s seed. In the beginning, our first parents saw, understood, experienced, and cherished God through the Word. But when they changed their “terrain” through their choices, they lost the blessing of a green and fertile land where they could always remain close to Him. But God followed them and their descendants despite their choice to change the terrains.
He is a different type of Sower who would spill the seeds all over the place….on pathways, thorny bushes, scorchy and rocky soils! It’s not because of his carelessness but because of his generosity. He does not want anyone left behind. Finally, he makes the Word become flesh- in Jesus. And yet the terrain continues to keep changing and people still fail to understand God’s revelation.
The second reading shows that suffering in this world is part of a process of enriching our spiritual lives. As Paul says, “We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now.” We are called to prepare our terrain. Are we ready for the Sower?
Let us also reflect on being good Sowers for others!
God Bless,
Fr. Jay Raju
