A Message from Fr. Jay
Dear Friends,
Divine Mercy Sunday is solemnly celebrated at our parish every year.
There is an interesting correlation between the two Saints, St. Pope John Paul II and St. John XXIII. Pope John Paul II introduced this celebration in the jubilee year 2000. He later passed away one day before Divine Mercy Sunday in 2005. Ten years later in 2015, Pope John Paul II was canonized along with our patron Saint, St. John XXIII, on the same Divine Mercy Sunday.
Both Popes remain dear to our hearts as Saints having close connections to Divine Mercy! Both have been messengers of mercy!
In the gospel today, we read that Thomas asked for personal proof of Jesus’ resurrection! He needed some visible and touching experience of His wounds. It is not clearly said if Thomas really touched Jesus wounds but certainly Jesus touched Thomas with His words. The words that emerge from Thomas are very powerful “My Lord and my God” – the total surrendering to Jesus. Once again proving to the world that the Word has more power and promotes LIFE.
Easter joy continues to promote LIFE with the help of Divine Mercy. Let us continue to promote His mercy through our surrender to God!
God Bless,
Fr. Jay Raju
